We are upgrading from SAP ECC 5.0 to SAP ECC 6.0, does it affect existing ABAP program and what type of problem can occur in programs, BDC , Script (ie all ABAP objects ) after upgradation.

I want to know is that what will be the ABAP issues that can come after upgradation.

The answer by Sunny

In upgrade always ABAP programs and reports are effecting. In upgrade on one phase you have to perform SPDD where you will get all standard objects that you have modified earlier and you have to adjust them accordingly.

Then after upgrade a phase will come SPAU where you have to adjust standard programs that you have been modified and you have to adjust them accordingly.

After upgrade it is always recommended to have a through SAP functional testing as lot of changes come from fuctional side as well.

?

The Solution is:

The SAP error can be fixed with as per suggested in the below SAP note.

961410 – Add. info. on upgrading to SAP ECC 6.0 SR2 ABAP

Source Release 4.6C and below only: Phase TABIM_UPG

If your source release is based on SAP Basis 4.6C or lower, the upgrade may stop in phase TABIM_UPG. Log files SAPI700TG2. orSAPI700TK2. show the following error message: 2EETW109 table “BSKEYWORD” does not exist in nametab.

To prevent this SAP error, proceed as follows:

1. After PREPARE,before you start the upgrade, go to subdirectory “cofiles” of the upgrade directory.
2. Create / update files with the name A700TG2.SAP and A700TK2.SAP.
3. Open the files and enter exactly the following:

I 2EETW109 table “BSKEYWORD” does not exist in nametab

4. Save the file.

To fix this SAP error in phase TABIM_UPG, use the same procedure

For more information, please go thorugh SAP note 799639.

Please find extract from this SAP note on upgrade

IDES should only be operated as a seperate installation. Each new release requires a new installation!
We do not recommend to upgrade an existing IDES systems. This is the only way to guarantee the full functionality of a tested demo system!
Customers performing an upgrade nevertheless should open an OSS-ticket to component XX-IDES. A remote connection to the IDES system should be
available in order to give appropriate support! Extended support may be chargeable!

?

The solution provided by SAP

Each organization has different and highly specific reasons for considering an upgrade. For a well-oriented justification process, your organization should create a detailed summary of what benefits you expect or would like to derive from an upgrade. Some of the most common reasons and associated drivers for an upgrade are the following:

?

Operational Excellence – Business challenges and business user demand for new functionality to improve operational excellence, enable innovation, and support new business models

SAP ERP 6.0 provides more than 300 functional enhancements that can improve process efficiency

SAP ERP 6.0 integrates the functions of most SAP industry solutions so that these solutions no longer need to be installed and set up separately

Business Strategy – Flexibility for future innovations (without disruption)

Sustainability – Stay in compliance with regulations and ensure business and system stability

SAP provides updates for legal changes as part of the mainstream or extended maintenance agreement for SAP ERP. However, with previous releases of SAP R/3, the outdated underlying software technology may impede the implementation of effective solutions for meeting current compliance standards. With its integrated solutions for governance, risk, and compliance, SAP ERP 6.0 facilitates a unified, cross-company framework that correlates and aligns all activities.

By upgrading to SAP ERP 6.0, you can stay up-to-date with the underlying technology and ensure business continuity and system stability.

SAP ERP 6.0 is the “go-to” release until at least 2012 providing mainstream maintenance until March 2013 and extended maintenance until 2016.

Total Cost of Ownership – Cost optimization

Combine your upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0 with other IT initiatives, such as returning SAP software modifications and custom developments to SAP standard functions. This can reduce TCO, mainly in terms of operations costs.

We plan to upgrade SAP ECC 6 from SAP R/3 4.7, I have one doubt in this, can we upgrade SAP R/3 4.7 PRD system to SAP ECC 6 DEV system.

If it is possible, kindly give the procedures involved in it.

?

If you want to upgrade your Development envir?nment after refreshing it from production environment.

It is possible. The first step, do the system refresh of your development enviroment from production by system copy method. Please download system copy guide from below link according to your release:

https://websmp101.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000670917&

Then follow the upgrade procedure from SAP 4.7 to ECC 6.0. please find below the link for upgrade:

https://websmp101.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000670917&

First thing I want to make aware about is you will not be able to change database schema. After copy database schema of DEV environment will also be of production.

Then Steps are:

1) you have to export Java if it is double stack system.
2) database export and other things that you have to follow from SAP guide

also, if you want that after system copy same configuration your DEV system have (configuration means RFC’s, logical systems etc..) then before system copy you have to take backup of these configurations.

after that you have to import Java, restore database and perform other steps..

For details I will suggest you to follow SAP System copy guide.

?

We are using SAP ECC6.0 version,I am not getting F1 help for anything. I am unable to see the command field to enter the PACKAGE NAME or PROGRAM NAME or FUNCTION GROUP NAME , and etc in the SE80 transaction.

Some of the older SAP versions of SAPGUI do not display F1 help correctly when Internet Explorer 7.0 is installed on the workstation. If you are using an older SAPGUI, you may want to upgrade to the latest version.
